The Macallan Litha takes its name from the ancient Celtic celebration of the summer solstice — a fitting namesake for a whisky designed to represent the coming together of opposing forces. Created under the direction of Kirsteen Campbell, The Macallan's Master Whisky Maker, Litha showcases the natural colour and character achieved through the marrying of sherry-seasoned oak casks from both Europe and America.
The release arrives in a striking presentation box illustrated by award-winning Chinese-American artist Sija Hong, whose artwork depicts the meeting of Scotland and Spain — Scotland rendered in cool blue pantones on the right, Spain in warm red on the left — reflecting the dual origins of the casks used in Litha's maturation.
