The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 11 is the eleventh release in the Highland distillery’s sought-after series of naturally powerful, sherry-matured single malts. Released in 2022, it offers an undiluted expression of the richly fruited and heavily sherried character for which GlenDronach has become renowned.
Selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, Batch 11 was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. These two styles of maturation bring complementary qualities, combining concentrated fruit and sweetness with nutty, spicy and structured oak character.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 59.8% ABV, this Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is non-chill filtered and presented at natural colour. No age statement is declared for the release, with the emphasis instead placed on cask selection and intensity of flavour.
Official tasting notes highlight cranberry, orange, dark treacle and nutty oak alongside bramble fruit, chocolate raisins, cinnamon and sultanas, leading into a long, richly spiced finish.
For admirers of traditional sherry-cask whisky, GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 11 provides a particularly concentrated interpretation of the distillery’s house style and remains an appealing release for collectors of the ongoing Cask Strength series.

Mulled cranberry and orange with clove liqueur, dark honeyed treacle and a foundation of nutty oak.

Rich bramble fruit and treacle toffee with chocolate-coated raisins, cinnamon, maple sweetness and sultanas.

Lingering Seville orange peel and nutmeg, layered with caramel and maraschino cherry.
Glendronach
Founded 1826
The crown jewel in the Brown Forman Scotch empire started life in 1826 near the village of Forgue in Aberdeenshire. A perfect spot, surrounded by farms eager to sell their barley to the distillery, which continues to this day. GlenDronach had an unsettled 90 years or so, with various owners and the menace of fire damaging the distillery. In 1960, William Teacher & Sons made the wise choice to purchase the distillery, which already had a reputation for using sherry casks. This only grew when an expansion to 4 stills was completed in 1966, despite being a rather unsightly extension amongst all the traditional buildings. A period of closure in the 90s to this day is being felt amongst supporting its age statements before new owners decided to sell to the Billy Walker consortium. Through his use of casks and special releases, a new generation fell in love with the whisky. An expanding range has been cut back by Brown Forman, who paid a sizeable fee to become the new owners of the distillery along with BenRiach and Glenglassaugh.
