Springbank Local Barley 2016 8 Year Old 2025 Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl 58.1%

Springbank’s Local Barley series is one of the distillery’s most sought-after annual releases, celebrating the relationship between Campbeltown whisky and the surrounding agricultural land. Each edition highlights a specific locally grown barley variety, offering enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the influence of different grains and farms on Springbank’s distinctive spirit.

This 2016 vintage was produced using Bere barley grown at High Ranachan Farm in Campbeltown. Distilled in July 2016 and bottled in December 2024, the whisky was released in early 2025 as an 8 Year Old expression, continuing the tradition of limited Local Barley bottlings from Springbank.

The whisky was matured in a combination of 50% bourbon casks and 50% sherry casks before being bottled at natural cask strength of 58.1% ABV. Produced entirely at Springbank, the release reflects the distillery’s traditional approach, with production, maturation and bottling carried out on-site in Campbeltown.

Limited to 13,500 bottles worldwide, this release has attracted considerable attention from collectors due to its small production run, local barley provenance and the reputation of Springbank’s highly collectible limited editions.
