Campbeltown, Scotland
Springbank’s Local Barley series celebrates the close relationship between the Campbeltown distillery and the surrounding farmland, using barley grown locally on the Kintyre Peninsula and showcasing the influence of provenance on the finished whisky. These releases are highly regarded by enthusiasts due to their limited availability and the traditional methods retained throughout Springbank’s production process.
This 2010 vintage Local Barley expression was produced using Belgravia barley grown at Glencraigs Farm in Campbeltown. Distilled in June 2010 and bottled on 11 December 2023, the whisky was released as a 13 Year Old single malt in 2024, with an outturn of only 8,400 bottles worldwide.
The whisky was matured in a combination of 60% bourbon casks and 40% sherry casks before being bottled at cask strength of 54.1% ABV. Like other Springbank releases, production was carried out entirely at the Campbeltown distillery, from malting through to maturation and bottling, preserving the hands-on character that has made the distillery highly respected among whisky collectors.
With its rare local barley provenance, small production run and age statement, this release is an important addition to the modern Springbank portfolio and a sought-after bottle for collectors of Campbeltown single malt whisky.
