Distilled at Mortlach in 2016 and bottled by Signatory Vintage in 2026, this 10 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky forms Edition #84 of the independent bottler’s popular 100 Proof series. Bottled at 57.1% ABV – the traditional British 100 Proof strength – it is presented without chill filtration or added colour.
Mortlach has been producing whisky in Dufftown since 1823 and is particularly known for its rich, weighty style of spirit. That robust character makes it particularly well suited to assertive sherry cask influence, and this release received a finish in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry butts.
The PX finish adds a distinctly rich dimension, with published tasting notes highlighting raisins, figs, dark chocolate, caramel and warming spice alongside Mortlach’s full-bodied character. The maturation prior to the Pedro Ximénez finish has not been disclosed in the most consistent retailer specifications, so it is best described simply as a first-fill PX sherry butt finish.
Bottled at a generous 57.1%, Edition #84 offers a characterful meeting of powerful Mortlach spirit and concentrated sherry influence, making it an appealing release for followers of independent Speyside whisky and Signatory Vintage’s increasingly sought-after 100 Proof series.
