The 2020 release of the Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask brings together the distillery's celebrated sherry oak expertise with the complementary characters of both American and European oak, creating a whisky of real nuance and sophistication. Part of Macallan's prestigious Double Cask series, this expression sits alongside the Sherry Oak range as a more layered, multi-dimensional take on long-aged Macallan.

Matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks across both American and European oak, the two wood types work in harmony to produce a whisky with the rich, fruity sweetness of the European oak balanced by the softer, more delicate vanilla and coconut notes that American oak contributes. The result is a beautifully rounded 18-year-old expression with greater complexity than either cask type could deliver alone.

As a 2020 release now several years behind us, remaining bottles are increasingly hard to source at retail, adding further desirability for Macallan collectors and investors alike.
