Campbeltown, Scotland
Kilkerran 8 Year Old Bourbon Cask Strength 2025 is a limited release from Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, showcasing the distinctive character of one of Scotland’s most closely followed modern whisky makers. Produced using traditional methods, Kilkerran represents the return of whisky production to Glengyle and reflects the enduring Campbeltown style of balanced fruit, maritime influence and gentle complexity.
This release has been fully matured in ex-bourbon casks for eight years, allowing the spirit to develop without the influence of sherry or wine casks. The bourbon maturation highlights Kilkerran’s fresh malt character, soft sweetness and coastal elements while maintaining the depth expected from a cask strength bottling.
Distilled at Glengyle Distillery and bottled on 18 November 2024, this expression was released in early 2025 at 55.6% ABV. Bottled at cask strength, it offers whisky enthusiasts the opportunity to experience Kilkerran with minimal intervention and the full intensity of the matured spirit.
A sought-after addition to the Kilkerran range, this 2025 Bourbon Cask Strength release will appeal to collectors and fans of Campbeltown single malt whisky looking for a powerful expression driven by traditional production and bourbon cask maturation.

Kilkerran (Glengyle)
Founded 1872
The Glengyle distillery can trace its roots back to the heydays of Campbeltown and 1872. Like so many in the town, the distillery closed in the 1920s and the builds were used for a variety of purposes. It was only in 2000 when Hedley Wright, when faced with Campbeltown losing its regional status with the Scotch Whisky Association, bought what remained of the distillery to ensure there were 3 distilleries in the town. The first spirit ran in 2004, from stills acquired from the closed Ben Wyvis distillery. Enthusiasts were able to follow its development via the Work in Progress range, bottling under the name of Kilkerran. Since these early days, the distillery has gone from strength to strength, manned on a part-time basis by the Springbank team. A heavily peated range was recently added to the staple 12 year old, 8 cask strength offerings and the debut of the 16 year old. Due to the small production and high demand, Kilkerran is an increasingly sought-after distillery.
