Campbeltown, Scotland
Kilkerran 8 Year Old Bourbon Cask Strength is a limited release from Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, showcasing the distillery’s distinctive approach to traditional Scotch whisky production. Produced by the same team behind Springbank, Kilkerran has become highly regarded for its characterful spirit and connection to Campbeltown’s historic whisky-making heritage.
This 2026 release was fully matured in ex-bourbon casks, allowing the fresh, coastal Kilkerran spirit to develop alongside the softer influence of American oak. The result is a cask strength expression that highlights the distillery’s balance of fruit, malt, oak and gentle maritime character without the influence of sherry or wine maturation.
Distilled at Glengyle Distillery and bottled on 10 December 2025, this expression was released at its natural cask strength of 57.7% ABV. Bottled with no dilution, it offers whisky enthusiasts the opportunity to experience Kilkerran at full intensity while retaining the depth created through eight years of maturation.
As a limited annual-style release from one of Campbeltown’s most closely followed distilleries, Kilkerran 8 Year Old Bourbon Cask Strength is a sought-after addition for collectors and fans of traditional, small-scale Scotch whisky production.

Kilkerran (Glengyle)
Founded 1872
The Glengyle distillery can trace its roots back to the heydays of Campbeltown and 1872. Like so many in the town, the distillery closed in the 1920s and the builds were used for a variety of purposes. It was only in 2000 when Hedley Wright, when faced with Campbeltown losing its regional status with the Scotch Whisky Association, bought what remained of the distillery to ensure there were 3 distilleries in the town. The first spirit ran in 2004, from stills acquired from the closed Ben Wyvis distillery. Enthusiasts were able to follow its development via the Work in Progress range, bottling under the name of Kilkerran. Since these early days, the distillery has gone from strength to strength, manned on a part-time basis by the Springbank team. A heavily peated range was recently added to the staple 12 year old, 8 cask strength offerings and the debut of the 16 year old. Due to the small production and high demand, Kilkerran is an increasingly sought-after distillery.
