Campbeltown, Scotland
Kilkerran 16 Year Old is the oldest permanent expression in the Glengyle Distillery range, showcasing the continued development of Campbeltown whisky from one of Scotland’s most respected newer producers. Produced at Glengyle Distillery, part of the Mitchell’s Glengyle family alongside Springbank, Kilkerran is made using traditional methods that reflect the historic character of the Campbeltown region.
The 2025 release of Kilkerran 16 Year Old has been matured in a combination of 60% bourbon casks and 40% sherry casks, creating a balance between fresh oak influence, rich dried fruit and the distillery’s signature lightly peated spirit. Bottled at 46% ABV, this expression is presented with natural colour and without chill filtration, preserving the whisky’s authentic texture and complexity.
With 16 years of maturation, the whisky offers greater depth and maturity than the younger Kilkerran releases, bringing together notes of dark fruit, spice, chocolate, gentle smoke and maritime character. The annual nature of the Kilkerran 16 Year Old release makes each edition a point of interest for collectors, as the cask composition can vary from year to year while maintaining the distinctive Glengyle house style.
A refined Campbeltown single malt, Kilkerran 16 Year Old 2025 demonstrates the balance between traditional whisky-making and carefully selected cask maturation.

Kilkerran (Glengyle)
Founded 1872
The Glengyle distillery can trace its roots back to the heydays of Campbeltown and 1872. Like so many in the town, the distillery closed in the 1920s and the builds were used for a variety of purposes. It was only in 2000 when Hedley Wright, when faced with Campbeltown losing its regional status with the Scotch Whisky Association, bought what remained of the distillery to ensure there were 3 distilleries in the town. The first spirit ran in 2004, from stills acquired from the closed Ben Wyvis distillery. Enthusiasts were able to follow its development via the Work in Progress range, bottling under the name of Kilkerran. Since these early days, the distillery has gone from strength to strength, manned on a part-time basis by the Springbank team. A heavily peated range was recently added to the staple 12 year old, 8 cask strength offerings and the debut of the 16 year old. Due to the small production and high demand, Kilkerran is an increasingly sought-after distillery.
