Hazelburn 8 Year Old Oloroso Cask Matured is a limited annual release from Springbank Distillery’s unpeated, triple-distilled Hazelburn range. Produced entirely in Campbeltown, Hazelburn offers a lighter and more delicate style compared with its Springbank and Longrow counterparts, while retaining the traditional craftsmanship associated with the distillery.
Distilled in February 2017, this expression was matured for eight years in Oloroso sherry casks before being bottled in March 2025. The extended sherry maturation brings additional richness and depth to Hazelburn’s soft, elegant spirit, creating a whisky that showcases the influence of carefully selected European oak.
Bottled as part of the 2025 release, this expression was limited to 10,500 bottles worldwide. Like other Hazelburn bottlings, it was produced using the distillery’s traditional triple distillation process, with whisky made, matured and bottled on-site at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown.
With its limited availability, full sherry cask maturation and distinctive triple-distilled character, Hazelburn 8 Year Old Oloroso Cask Matured offers an excellent opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts exploring the wider range of Campbeltown single malts.

Hazelburn
Founded 1796
Today, Hazelburn is a triple-distilled distillate produced at the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. Its name is a homage to the original Hazelburn distillery that once stood in the town. The roots of triple distillation go back to Ireland (not too far from Campbeltown) and showcase how old the original Hazelburn was. Established in 1796, it stood in the Longrow South area of the town, before moving in 1840 to a large site near Glengyle road. By this time, it was Campbeltown’s largest distillery, equipped with its largest stills (no mean feat given how many competitors there were) and it was highly regarded for its whisky. Sadly, like so many Campbeltown distilleries it closed its doors in the 1920s, although some of the distillery buildings still stand. You can celebrate its legacy with a bottle of the lovely 10 year old produced by Springbank, who also release Hazelburn in a variety of editions.
