Hazelburn 21 Year Old is a rare mature expression from the Hazelburn range, produced at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. Known for its triple distillation and unpeated character, Hazelburn offers a softer and more delicate style of Campbeltown single malt while retaining the traditional production methods that define the distillery.
This 2022 release was matured for 21 years in Springbank’s traditional Campbeltown warehouses, allowing the spirit to develop depth, refinement and complexity over more than two decades. The whisky was created from Hazelburn’s fruity, elegant spirit and carefully selected oak casks before being chosen for this limited annual release.
The 2022 edition is a combination of 70% sherry cask matured whisky and 30% bourbon cask matured whisky, bringing together rich dried fruit character with the softer influence of American oak. Bottled at 46% ABV, this expression reflects the balance and maturity expected from a long-aged Hazelburn single malt.
Unlike Springbank’s lightly peated whisky and Longrow’s heavily peated style, Hazelburn showcases a cleaner profile through its triple-distilled production process. Produced entirely at Springbank Distillery, from distillation through maturation and bottling, this release is a sought-after addition for collectors of premium Campbeltown whisky.

Hazelburn
Founded 1796
Today, Hazelburn is a triple-distilled distillate produced at the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. Its name is a homage to the original Hazelburn distillery that once stood in the town. The roots of triple distillation go back to Ireland (not too far from Campbeltown) and showcase how old the original Hazelburn was. Established in 1796, it stood in the Longrow South area of the town, before moving in 1840 to a large site near Glengyle road. By this time, it was Campbeltown’s largest distillery, equipped with its largest stills (no mean feat given how many competitors there were) and it was highly regarded for its whisky. Sadly, like so many Campbeltown distilleries it closed its doors in the 1920s, although some of the distillery buildings still stand. You can celebrate its legacy with a bottle of the lovely 10 year old produced by Springbank, who also release Hazelburn in a variety of editions.
