Glenmorangie Signet is one of the distillery’s most distinctive and innovative expressions, created to showcase the influence of unusual ingredients and carefully selected cask maturation. Developed by Glenmorangie’s whisky creators, Signet brings together rare elements from the distillery’s archives, including some of the oldest whisky ever released by Glenmorangie alongside specially produced spirit matured in exceptional oak casks.
A defining feature of Signet is the use of roasted “chocolate” malt barley, a technique inspired by the flavours found in fine dark chocolate and coffee. This unique malt contributes to the whisky’s rich and indulgent character, while bespoke designer casks made from American white oak provide additional depth and complexity.
The whisky combines mature Glenmorangie spirit with specially selected components, including spirit distilled decades earlier when the distillery still carried out its own floor malting. Bottled at 46% ABV and presented without chill filtration, Signet represents a modern classic within the Glenmorangie range.

Colour
Deep amber with rich copper tones.
Nose
Rich and aromatic, with dark chocolate, roasted coffee and sweet spice alongside notes of vanilla, caramel and dried fruit.
Palate
Luxurious and full-flavoured, combining bitter chocolate, espresso and cinnamon with layers of honey, ginger and creamy vanilla.
Finish
Long and warming, leaving notes of dark chocolate, spice, roasted coffee and lingering sweetness.
Glenmorangie
Founded 1843
Situated on the outskirts of Tain in Ross-shire, Glenmorangie has enjoyed rapid success in recent times thanks to the patronage of Moet Hennessy, who acquired the distillery in 2004 for a sum of £300 million from the MacDonald family. Since then, there have been dramatic changes at the distillery and a makeover in terms of appearance including a new modern still house to expand capacity and a refreshing of the range. The new still building also includes fermentation and mashing, which raises the prospect of experimentation, or even a new mini-distillery under a different name. Led by Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie has pursued a range of cask finishes and no age statements to great success. The classic expression remains the 10 year old, but you’ll also see a variety of special editions and single casks. With the recent improvements, we can expect more from Glenmorangie in the coming years.
