Distilled in 2007 and drawn from a single Sherry Butt, this Glenfarclas belongs to the distillery's celebrated Family Casks series — a project launched in 2007 to give collectors direct access to individual casks from Glenfarclas's own warehouses, bottled exactly as they emerge, with nothing added and nothing taken away.

Glenfarclas remains one of the last family-owned distilleries in Speyside, still run by the Grant family six generations on from their purchase of the site in 1865. Their whisky is matured almost exclusively in sherry wood, and the Family Casks range showcases that house style at its most unfiltered: single casks, bottled at natural strength, with no chill filtration and no added colouring.

This particular release, Cask No.553, spent fifteen years maturing in its sherry butt before being bottled on 29th July 2022, yielding just 613 bottles worldwide. As with every Family Cask, no two casks are alike — each is an individual expression of time, wood and warehouse conditions, which is precisely why collectors chase specific cask numbers rather than settling for a standard range bottling.
