Glenallachie — from the Gaelic Gleann Aileachaidh, meaning ‘Valley of the Rocks’ — sits in a landscape dominated by ancient rock formations. Each year, Master Distiller Billy Walker (formerly of GlenDronach and BenRiach) hand-selects a small number of truly exceptional casks to be set aside and bottled individually as single casks, each one bottled at cask strength to showcase Glenallachie in its purest form.
This expression was distilled in 2008 and matured in an Oloroso puncheon, hand-filled from Single Cask No.304.
Nose
Dark chocolate, raisin and orange peel, with a base of rich Oloroso sherry and gentle oak char.
Palate
Full and sherried, walnut and dark stone fruit with warming spice and a long, dry finish.
Glenallachie
Founded 1967
Since Billy Walker took the helm in 2017, Glenallachie has cut production drastically to focus purely on quality, favouring long fermentation and rich sherry cask maturation. Renowned for its bold, sherried Speyside character.
