The second instalment in Glenallachie's Past, Present, Future series — a three-part celebration of Master Distiller Billy Walker's 50-year career and the road ahead for the distillery. This 16-year-old began its life maturing in sherry casks before being transferred into Mizunara virgin oak casks, where it drew out the incense, sandalwood and exotic spice this rare Japanese oak is prized for.
Bottled in June 2022 at cask strength, this is a fitting tribute to everything Billy Walker has achieved — worthy of raising a glass to.
Nose
Sandalwood and incense from the Mizunara oak, layered with dried fig, orange peel and warm oak spice.
Palate
Rich and rounded, with dried fruit, coconut and clove, building to a long, spiced, sherried finish.
Glenallachie
Founded 1967
Since Billy Walker took the helm in 2017, Glenallachie has cut production drastically to focus purely on quality, favouring long fermentation and rich sherry cask maturation. Renowned for its bold, sherried Speyside character.
