A striking single cask release from Edradour, distilled on 25th June 2010 and matured for 12 years in a single Sherry Cask (No.164) before being bottled on 9th August 2022. This cask yielded 587 bottles at a robust 57% ABV, each presented in Edradour's distinctive Ibisco glass decanter — a beautifully sculpted bottle format that has since been discontinued, making these decanters as sought-after among collectors as the whisky inside.
With the Ibisco decanter no longer in production, this release carries a dual appeal: a rich, single cask sherried Highland malt housed in an increasingly rare piece of glassware. For collectors of Edradour or discontinued packaging formats alike, this is a genuinely distinctive find.
Colour
Deep amber gold, rich from 12 years in sherry oak.
Nose
Rich and inviting, with dried fruit, raisin, and warm sherry sweetness, layered with toasted oak and a gentle spice.
Palate
Full and well-textured at cask strength, opening with stewed fruit and sherry sweetness, developing into cinnamon, dark chocolate, and a satisfying oaky depth.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering dried fruit, spice, and a final note of sweet oak.
Edradour
Founded 1825
One of Scotland’s most picturesque distilleries, Edradour is believed to have been founded as Glenforres in 1825. This area of Perthshire was well known for illicit stills and farm distilleries that were well hidden and almost invisible to excisemen due to the terrain. By the 1830s the distillery name is Edradour and thus begins a colourful history of owners that continues with Signatory Vintage today. The issue with Edradour has always been its small production and mashtun of 1.1 tonnes that for many years was the smallest in Scotland. Since the craft distillery boom of recent times, Edradour is no longer the smallest by some margin, but the problem of output still endured. Especially, as Signatory began to expand the range including a heavily peated (Ballechin) distillation; all to acclaim. To address the problem, a second almost identical distillery was built alongside the original. This inventive approach has ensured the idyllic original Eradour remains unscathed and as consumers, we have the opportunity to try more whisky.
