Cragganmore Distillers Edition offers a richer interpretation of the distillery’s characteristically complex Speyside single malt, using a second maturation in Port-seasoned oak to add further fruit and depth.

Founded in 1869 by John Smith, Cragganmore is known for its distinctive flat-topped stills and traditional worm-tub condensers, which contribute to a spirit combining malt richness, fruit and a subtle smoky character. The Distillers Edition series takes this established house style and develops it through an additional period of cask maturation.

For the modern release, the whisky is initially matured in refill American and European oak before a second maturation in Port-seasoned re-charred American oak. The influence of the fortified wine seasoning complements Cragganmore’s malty profile with additional layers of ripe fruit, gentle sweetness and oak spice.

Bottled at 40% ABV, this Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky balances sweet fruit and wine notes with vanilla, cocoa, oak and understated smoke. It is a distinctive alternative to the classic Cragganmore expression and an interesting example of how secondary maturation can enhance rather than overwhelm a distillery’s underlying character.
