Distilled at Benrinnes in 2012 and bottled by Signatory Vintage in 2026, this 13 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky forms Edition #78 of the independent bottler’s 100 Proof series. Matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, it was bottled at the series’ characteristic 57.1% ABV, equivalent to 100 proof under the old British imperial system.
Benrinnes is known among whisky enthusiasts for a robust, weighty style of spirit that can stand up particularly well to rich sherry maturation. Here, extended maturation in first-fill Oloroso butts brings a pronounced dried-fruit and spice influence while retaining the substantial character associated with the distillery.
Published tasting notes highlight raisins, dates and dark chocolate on the nose, moving into treacle, fruitcake, roasted nuts and sweet sherry spice on the palate. The finish remains warming and fruit-led, with cocoa and gentle oak tannins.
Presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, Edition #78 is a compelling example of mature, full-bodied Benrinnes from Signatory Vintage, particularly suited to enthusiasts of heavily sherried Speyside whisky and the increasingly popular 100 Proof series.
