A remarkable single cask Ardbeg, distilled on 29th November 2005 and left to mature for 15 years in a single second-fill Oloroso sherry butt before being bottled on 10th March 2021 at 56.8% ABV. Just 595 individually numbered bottles were yielded from cask No.5460 — a generous yield from a butt, but one that does nothing to diminish the rarity and desirability of what is an outstanding single cask Islay release.
Fifteen years is a significant age statement for Ardbeg, and the additional time in cask has allowed the distillery's famously intense peat smoke and coastal character to settle and integrate into something altogether more complex and considered than younger expressions.
Perfect for: Ardbeg collectors, lovers of sherried Islay single malts, and single cask hunters seeking a rare, well-aged expression that showcases a richer, more contemplative side of Ardbeg's character.
